Shaun White Air & Style Beijing title was won by young Yuki Kadono. The competition was held at the Olympic Bird’s Nest stadium (Beijing National Stadium). The second and the third were Finland’s Peetu Piiroinen, and Norway’s StÃyle Sandbech, respectively. Many are asking whether the young champion will follow in Shaun White’s footsteps, coming to be the next young snowboarding prodigy.
Kadono, 16 years old, has become the youngest Air & Style winner since Shaun White himself. The promising athlete was awarded as much as 1,000 World Snowboard Tour Ranking points and Air & Style Ring of Glory, which is a respectable award. Apart from that, Yuki won the Red Bull Airtime award. Kadono’s Backside Triple Cork 1440 Mute Grab brought him wining 97.67 points in the Superfinal.
Peetu Piiroinen, Air & Style veteran, said he had been expecting Yuki Kadono to give a top-performance since summer. Piiroinen congratulated Yuki on his victory; his own result was 93.33 points.
For Sandbech, this competition was the second to bring him the third place. Through having hoped for more, the Norwegian athlete is still satisfied with being on the podium. He scored 92.00 points.
The fourth place was taken by Mathias Weissenbacher from Austria. Notably, his score was 34.33, creating a huge gap between the top-three and himself.
The Big Air ranking, now joined by Kadono (16th place) is presently led by Finnish athlete Roope Tonteri. The latter has to secure his position. Toneri’s main rival is now no other than Sandbech, who is to challenge the top-ranker at World Snowboard Tour Big Air in mid-January.
